DDT Excavating was formed by brothers Theron “Torchy†Flora and Durward Flora in 1988. They had both been in the site work and sand pit business their entire working lives when they formed DDT. They also acquired Clear Lake Sand and Fill and Gulf Coast Sand and decided to operate under the Clear Lake Sand and Fill name, as it reflected their geographical area of operation.
Over the past 30 years they have operated sand pits in Angleton, as well as four different locations in League City, one in Texas City and three in Alvin. Our current Alvin location makes the fourth pit in the Alvin area and has been in operation since 2017.
While in League City and Texas City the company supplied fill materials to numerous new home builders and many commercial ventures. Some of the projects supplied include: the Tanger Outlet Mall and Buc-ees along the Gulf Freeway in Texas City.
Since opening the new pit in Alvin, Clear Lake Sand has continued to service many custom and tract home builders. We have also worked with various contractors on projects in the Ineos Chocolate Bayou plant. These projects reflect the wide range of expertise the company possesses.
On the DDT Excavating side of the business, the most recent projects completed include building a road into a new tract for custom homes in the Friendswood area and revamping drainage for a subdivision in Rosharon.
DDT Excavating and Site Work
DDT Excavating and Site Work is our parent company. Through DDT we offer site work to include land clearing, ponds, roads, building pads, underground, lime stabilization, construction roads, and laydown yards.
Some examples of recent projects include extensive work on an industrial equipment rental facility in Pearland, Texas to include detention pond and drainage and lime stabilization of the parking lot area for use by heavy trucks.
In the Alvin area there are numerous RV parks check here being built. One of the major uses is temporary camping facilities for employees of the chemical plants in the Chocolate Bayou area. We have supplied both material and site work services for some of these parks.
We have ongoing work on condominium projects in both the La Porte and Armandwilde areas. We continue to build pads and do drainage work for these projects as they progress.
